I know, bad "Starlight Express" reference. But concerning my life at this moment, today, it's appropriate.
I'm expecting a call from HR at the Doubletree any moment now. They want me to come in and "sign paperwork". They haven't actually said, "you're hired" yet, but why else would I be called in to "sign paperwork"?
I (finally) had my telephone interview with EDD on Monday evening. She needed me to fax her some paperwork. It was $1.99 for the fax and $35 for the Overdraft Fees. I, so far, have accumulated $210 just in overdraft fees. Gee, thanks Bank of America...nothing like charging someone hundreds of dollars in fees when they don't HAVE any money in the first place...and the fun doesn't stop there. I'm still waiting on my check(s). I went back and looked at the e-mail I received from EDD and it states, "If the department finds you eligible, benefit payments will be processed for all certified eligible weeks. Please allow 7-10 days for mailing benefit checks." By their own math, I should have a check in my hand no later than the 4th of the month, about 12 hours too late for rent. Maybe I can squeeze by by simply paying rent at midnight on the 3rd and praying to God that my check is in the mail the next day. I'm guess-timating if I am payed for "all eligible weeks", this check should be somewhere around $2,100...that would go a LONG way toward paying my $675 rent, a $200 cellphone bill, a $300 credit card bill and a lot of the other bills that have been piling up throughout this whole mess. I'm so far underwater right now I need my Scuba gear...
