Many months ago, I received a "settlement" deal from the insurance company that covered my Workers' Compensation claim at the Red Lion Hotel when I injured my knee.
On October 27th, I signed the paperwork releasing them from any further liability and mailed it back to them. They in turn would mail me a lump sum check for $6,000.00...
...or so I thought.
That was over 2 months ago.
Later I received paperwork telling me that my case was to go before a judge on December 23rd. The judge put a halt on the proceedings because he wasn't sure I was getting the best end of the deal. After all, if my knee blows out again, I'm on my own.
The insurance adjustors upped the ante. They are now going back to the judge with a $10,000.00 settlement deal.
I will possibly have that money in as little as 2 weeks.
Holy crap.
